As they do every year, USC President Harris Pastides and First Lady Patricia Moore Pastides invited all international students attending the University of South Carolina over to their home for a special reception. Throughout the evening, the couple graciously met with each of the attendees, welcomed them into their home and even took pictures with the students! This past month, International Accelerator Program students and Student Services Advisors traveled to Charleston and Folly Beach for a day of fun and relaxation. Students toured the beautiful and historic city of Charleston and tried the delicious local cuisine. Some students skipped the cuisine and headed straight for the shopping at Charleston’s premiere boutiques and stores.
In the afternoon, the group traveled to Folly Beach, located about 25 minutes from downtown Charleston. There, they were able to enjoy the warm sand, the ocean waves and our beautiful South Carolina sky. Some students took a dip in the ocean while others enjoyed playing in the sand. Be sure to take a look at the pictures below! Were you on the trip? Comment below on your favorite part of the day!

In continuation of Independence Day festivities, during the month of July, our USC International Accelerator Program students took a special field trip to Lake Murray. For those who don't know, Lake Murray is one of the major recreation destinations for central South Carolina residents, and it's only a 30-minute drive from campus! At 41 miles long and 14 miles wide at its widest point, Lake Murray has 649 miles of shoreline. Whether you're looking to enjoy swimming off the shore at the beaches, parks or recreation areas, or looking to take a relaxing boat ride or possibly ready for a water skiing adventure, Lake Murray has something for everyone! Each year, residents enjoy a beautiful fireworks show in honor of Independence Day. This summer, our students got to experience it for themselves!
